Sticks'n'Sushi
The restaurant in Valby is located in the outermost part of the Spinderiet shopping centre, right by Tingstedet on Valby Langgade. This location is home to a restaurant, a café, and a takeaway service that all offer a view of the street where, as rumour has it, we used to chain our prisoners while they waited to be put on trial at Tinghuset. Nowadays the street is known for its Saturday markets and cosy benhces.
Below the floating ceiling
The cotton mill in Valby was opened as a replacement for the mill that closed in Odense in 1907—and it was spectacularly modern. Back in the day, the building with the big windows was an effective workplace, thanks to the young girls who worked there, as well the semi-mechanical manufacturing equipment. That is no longer the case.
In our day, Spinderiet is a mix of old buildings and more modern ones built with glass and steel. As a complex, Spinderiet serves as a shopping area with more than fifty shops—including a Sticks’n’Sushi that opened its doors in 2008.
The menu comprises our balanced mix of sushi, grilled delicacies, and cold and hot dishes. Regardless of whether you opt for raw or grilled, you can rest assured that what we serve is prepared to perfection. Choose from our selection of sweet drinks, Japanese beers, and sake. Should you be more inclined to enjoy a carbonated beverage with your raw fish, that can easily be arranged, too. We even have a special menu for the young ones, to make sure the entire family has a great time under our roof.
The interior design of the restaurant offers long, straight tables, which means that even if you are here to eat by yourself, you are never truly alone. Five metres above the floor in what was once the workroom for the young girls employed at the cotton mill is a floating ceiling, made of large lily pads.Behind the bar is a gigantic mirror that stretches the entire length of the restaurant, so you can always keep an eye on the people milling around.
You can enter the restaurant from Skolegade as well as from Tingstedet.
Larger group of guests
If you are twelve or more guests in your party, we kindly ask you to order your food in advance, as this will give our chef time to make sure that your food is absolutely perfect. Should there be guests in your party who would rather not eat raw fish, or who prefer plant-based diets. We welcome all requests for vegetarian meals.
